Sometimes curettage can be performed for the fetuses or embyos (babies in the womb of the women) whose heartbeat has stopped, and sometimes to drain the remaining parts of the fetuses in the uterus of the women who have had a miscarriage (retention curettage, RC). If the women is married with a men, then the consent of her husband should be taken, if there is no obstacle in her health.
Sometimes, in emergency situations that threaten the woman's life, the doctor may have to perform this procedure without asking the patient. In this case, the doctor is obliged to report the situation to the legal authorities.
Is the Curettage Procedure Applied Only for the Termination of the Pregnancies?
Curettage is the process of removing the tissue inside the uterus by scraping or suction (aspiration, menstrual regulation) method.
Not only in pregnant women, but also in women who are bleeding and not pregnant, scraping or aspiration can be applied to the intrauterine tissue in the form of taking a piece to diagnose uterine cancer or precursor pathologies, or to clean and treat the intrauterine tissue of non-pregnant women with heavy bleeding (Probe curettage, Fractionated curettage, endometrial curettage, endocervical curettage, therapeutic curettage).
